Guest: Meagan Hatfield

Please welcome Meagan Hatfield to the convertible today! She's got a fun Top Ten list of best kisses. And to celebrate the release of her latest SHADOW OF THE VAMPIRE, she's giving away a copy to one lucky commenter. [winner announced on Friday]

Pucker up!
Let's face it, a good kiss will make me melt and remind me why the hell I write about everlasting love in the first place. So, in keeping with my blog tour theme of top ten lists, I thought I would list some of my favorite or most inspiring lip locks of all time:
10.) Eric and Shelley at the end of The Crow

Because after watching everything that man went through for two hours in the name and honor of his girlfriend, he SO deserved that kiss.

9.) Lenny and Mace kiss at the end of Strange Days

I literally searched Google for hours - maybe even days looking for the final scene from this mind-blowing movie. No luck. But believe me, when Lenny finally realizes what he has, reaches out and friggin' claims it with a toe curling kiss that I felt through the screen and into my living room, it was a big payoff. *fans self* Seriously, if you haven't seen this movie, buy it. The kiss alone is worth it. (Although, Juliet Lewis singing, "I can hardly wait" kinda rocks it too.)
8.) Michael and Sara in Prison Break

Ah, Sara and Michael. One of my fav. tv couples EVER. I was not so much a fan of the first kiss in the prison, simply because of his motivation. But his second kiss on the train to Chicago was for all the right reason. *sigh*

7.) Johnny and Penelope in Penelope

James McAvoy and whoever she was, uh Christina Ricci, in Penelope. The kiss at the end of this movie made me fall in love in James McAvoy, a guy who would normally NEVER make my radar. Good gravy, his mouth should be outlawed in four states. Men, boys, grandpa's take notes! He is the perfect hero, in this scene. He's utterly dominant and yet shows vulnerability, need and longing in the way he touches and looks at her. Awesome.

6.)Yuri and Lara in Dr. Zhivago

Two characters straight out of my favorite book of all time. Now, I'm too young to like the original movie. That Omar dude played a bad guy in a Benji movie, so every time I look at him, I think EVIL! Same with Tom Berenger bc of Platoon. But that's a different blog. Anyway, this is a remake from PBS and OMG, I adore everything about this movie. Especially, these two freakishly gorgeous people.

5.) Kate and Sawyer in Lost

Because holy hannah, did I ever want to be an actress in my life when Sawyer kissed Kate the way he did in that scene. Uh. *thud* Wow.

4.) Ennis and Jack in Brokeback Mountain

It may be shocking, but this is the kiss that made me fall in love with Jake Gyllenhaal.

3.) Ryan Goseling and Rachel McAdams

Okay, sort of fiction, sort of not, as they were dating at the time. But wow, Rachel McAdams and Ryan Goseling accepting their MTV movie award for best kiss. Humana, humana...what's my name? And why do I have this sudden urge to have Ryan Goseling's babies?
2.) Lady Viola and Shakespeare in Shakespeare in Love

If only because it is my fav movie ever made and it makes me cry everytime I watch it.

1.) Arthur and Gwen from Merlin.

This is the second time they kiss in season two and I absolutely loved this kiss. I literally rewound and watched it until I had it memorized. The way his face passes through shock, to desire is swoon-worthy. The muscles of his jaw relaxed, his eyes softened and then BAM! He was in it to win it!

Okay, so now that I’ve got you all hot and bothered *grin* Let me direct your attention to my latest release, SHADOW OF THE VAMPIRE, which is full of smokin’ hot kisses, btw.
Here is the blurb for SHADOW OF THE VAMPIRE:

Even vampires should never sleep with the enemy.
Vampire princess Alexia Feodorovna has been undead for 125 years, so it's been a while since any man has made her pulse race. Until Declan Black. One look at his bronzed body and a fire like no other consumes her. Then she discovers that he's a dragon lord come to take revenge on the vamps who killed his parents. And claim a crystal said to imbue its owner with incredible powers.
Alexia is ordered to torture and kill the dragon lord. Yet with each reckless encounter, she finds herself consumed by his fiery passion. A passion Declan battles, as well. Will he be able to resist the fire of lust she kindles within him and keep revenge in his heart? Or will he risk everything to quench the burning desire and claim the vampire as his own?

those are some awesome kisses. there was one episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer that had a kiss that totally rocked. I don't remember the specifics now...it was so long ago and my memory is really bad. congrats on the book.

Hi Meagan. You have listed some great kisses. Your book sounds amazing. I love the cover.

I must be officially old because I haven't seen any of those movies except the original Dr. Zhivago and OHMYGOD but Omar Sharif was a handsome devil in his youth. Still is pretty handsome. We even share the same birthday -- the month and day, not the year because he's 19 years older than me.

Anyway, back to kisses. I always loved the kiss in the original Thomas Crown Affair. And the first time Joan and Jack kiss in Romancing the Stone -- middle of the dance floor at the fiesta.

I need to get out more. LOL!

Meagan, welcome to the 'vert! Admittedly, I haven't seen any of these movies either. But I think my favorite kiss was in Kevin Costner's Robin Hood, with--whoever *she* was, LOL!

Welcome, Meagan!

Lots of movie kisses have left me slack-jawed and lub-dubbing like crazy, but off the top of my head...?

How about Harrison Ford and Kelly McGillis in "Witness"? The tension had been building, and the setting, camerawork, sheer hunger add up to breathtaking.

I've had one favorite for years and years - Richard Gere and Julia Ormond in First Knight. Lancelot is saying goodbye to Guinevere with a kiss that curls my toes - then King Arthur (Sean Connery) walks in on them.

What a fab cover and reading about kisses is just as exciting!!

Just the pic, alone, of Mcadams and Ryans making out. Whew! That musta been a hot one.

Another great kiss from The Crow (which was romantic, but still) was when the villain (Top Dollar?) gave his sister a goodbye kiss. He kissed her, then immediately there was a moment of wistfulness on his face, and you knew he was kissing her goodbye FOREVER. Because he knew she would die. Love that kiss!

Michele Hauf said...

I meant to say above that it WASN'T romantic. But maybe a little. Heh.

Great list. I really liked Penelope and I wish more people would have went to see it. When I read I love the first kissed between and alpha and his mate. It always leaves me (if it's written well) anticipating more.

Hi Meagan - welcome and congrats on your newest release. LOVE that cover!

And I love your top ten kisses. The only one I'd add, and it'll seem quite tame when compared with yours, but the entire movie leads up to this one moment - Kiera Knightly and Matthew Macfadyen at the end of Pride and Prejudice. Not hot, but definitely romantic.

OMG! Love this blog!

I swear, I lingered over each happy memory of those love stories.

Reminds us why we do this.

Excellent job. Both as a blog and as a living.

Hey guys! And thanks for all the comments and kiss recommendations. :)

krisgils33 - I LOVE Buffy! I probably should have had the Buffy/Angel kiss from "Surprise."

Thanks, CrystalB!

Playground Monitor - Oh, Romancing the Stone is one of the best movies! I mean, the heroine writes romance novels and the hero is a bad ass - what more could you ask for? :)

Kylie - I love Robin Hood! Such a fun movie. I've been meaning to get out and see the new Russell Crowe one. But looks like I'll have to settle for DVD. ;)

Kathleen - I'll have to rewatch that again now...haven't seen it in years!

catslady - Oh, I do remember that kiss! Nice one. ;)

Michele - it's smokin hot! Watch it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kTLDLWhgV1c
They are so adorable. I'm still upset they broke up. lol!

Stephanie - Penelope is one of the best, never seen flicks of the decade. I agree. :)

Helen - I must be the only person on the planet who didn't like that movie (or the one with Colin Firth.) *dodges tomatoes* hehe

Debra - Thanks! *fan girl alert* I took your Heroe's Journey workshop in Minnesota years ago and have my signed copy of GMC on my shelf. Just had to say thanks for both. :)

And thanks again to all of you lovely ladies for having me here today - and too all the commenters! Best of luck in the giveaway.

Fun post, Meagan and congrats on the new release! Awesome cover
Kisses ... hum ... You know I really don't remember if this scene ended in a kiss but the scene in Dirty Dancing between Swayze and Baby when he was first teaching her some hot moves was about as sensual as they come. I've watched that scene over and over and taken notes of all the little nuances. Isn't it odd that I can't remember if a kiss is involved?? I guess that tell you how hot the over all effect was :o)

I love your list, especially Michael and Sara from Prison Break, one of my favorite couples.

I'd add River Phoenix and Lili Taylor from a little indie movie called, Dogfight. There's a moment in a penny arcade, where they're circling and circling each other, then finally kiss.

Meagan Hatfield said...

Thanks for the cover luv, Cindy! :) I really need to watch Dirty Dancing again. And Ghost. But I'm afraid I'm going to just get sad and cry. I do agree though, they were a hot couple in that movie.

Thanks, Summer! I LOVE River Phoenix! I just re-watched Sneakers the other day actually. I get sad everytime I see him on film, thinking about all the great movies/roles we never got to see him play. same with Heath Ledger.

Wow, I got all depressing there for a minute. Sorry, y'all!

Back to the kissing comments now... :)

Oh, yes, Witness!

Also, Ross and Rachel from Friends, Buffy and Angel, Veronica Mars and Logan from Veronica Mars and Luke and Lorelei from Gilmore Girls.

Wow, that sounds like I don't watch any current TV. I do, believe me!

Love your list! My favorite kiss scene is between Sookie and Eric in True Blood.

how about an "almost" kiss? I love the scene in Pride and Prejudice where Mr Darcy and Elizabeth Bennett are arguing in the gazebo thing outside, they are drenched from running in the rain, which is still pouring down, she tells him he is the last man she'd ever have, then they look like they want to kiss, but don't! But you can certainly feel the tension in the air. Stephenia/quilter892ataoldotcom

rolf I've not seen any of these kisses but then I don't watch a lot of movies/tv. I loved the kiss at the end of the replacements with Keanu reeves and what's her name.
You book sounds great. I am adding to my wish list.

I enjoyed the kiss in Willow, where after Mad Mardigan and Sorcha have been fighting throughout the movie, she grabs him and plants a big one on him.

Pretty Woman at the end when they kiss on the fire escape Richard Gere and Julia Roberts. Also the first time they kiss on the lips! (Richard and Viviene)
