Betina's Bumper Sticker Thing

It pays in life to be something of an optimist. I spend way too much time in traffic these days, but rather than kvetch and moan, I have decided to use the time collecting sayings from bumper stickers. I intend to make a sociological study of them someday. . . when I finish cleaning out my sock drawer and polishing my RITA.

There are stickers that denote one's general outlook on life:

There are stickers that offer helpful advice:

Then there are stickers that seek to inform or enlighten:

There are some that are simple self expression or cries for help. Hard to say.

But my favorites are the ones with a theological viewpoint:

And then there are some that just can't be ignored, which, when you come to think of it, is the whole point.

And, of course, one of my personal favorites:

What about you? Got any favorite bumper stickers? What do you think when you come up behind a car with lots of bumper stickers on it? Does your spouse swear he'll divorce you if you ever put a bumper sticker on the car?

Great stickers! I'm a bumper reader too! Just love those little pieces of wisdom. If there are a bunch of them on one car, sometimes I'll have to follow it to read them all.

A few years ago I was dropping my son off at school. We pulled up behind a car that said, "This delinquent is sleeping with your honor student." Justin turned to me and said, "Don't look at me. I'm as surprised as you are."

I LOVE these, Betina! I don't think I can pick out a favorite, there are so many that made me LOL.

Alas, as much as I love bumper stickers, can't see myself putting one on my own car.

How 'bout this one: "Life is short, so buy the shoes!"

Or this one: "Dyslexics are teople poo."

Betina-- I love these! Some of the tehological viewpoints are a scream. And my husband and son need several of these on their cars. I can't reveal which ones because then you'd know way too much about them. :)

Lois, your Justin must be quite some guy! LOL.

Helen, I love those! There's nothing like "teople poo" to get you going inthe morning!

And Deb-- most of the guys I know have gone through a stage in which they adore bumper stickers and want to stick them on everything. Then they grow out of it. . . or not. There seem to be two kinds of men, those who love and use BS and those who can't stand them any more. The ones who love them are generally fifteen. . . whatever their chronological age.

So what does it say about me that I love these things so?

Another of my favorites, I couldn't find a pic of to include:

Don't make me come down there.

I read bumper stickers on the road all the time, but don't attach to my bumper. I almost put a "What would Wellstone Do?" on the car, but even that--I tape them in the back window for a while, but nothing permanent. I'm such a drag.

Forgive the political overtones, but here's one I like:

That's OK, I Wasn't Using My Civil Liberties Anyway.

Love the bumper stickers!

My personal favorite is one I saw several years ago on the back of a pickup driving up I-15 in San Diego:

BE NOT INVOLVED IN THE BUSINESS OF DRAGONS
FOR YOU ARE CRUNCHY AND TASTE GOOD WITH KETCHUP.

Yum!

Ah, Maureen - I love that one!

Betina,

Long time no hear/see! Stumbled on the Blog courtesy of Lois... and laughed me arse off over the B Stickers. Many favorites. But the best, the absolute best, was seen years ago by a buddy in Minnespolis: Honk if you ARE Jesus

Theologically yours,
Jane Kaufenberg

Maureen and Jane-- LOL-- thanks for the contribution! I LOVE the thought of being crunchy and tasting good with ketchup! (Especially since I don't expect to actually run into any dragons.) Did you catch that, Michele?

Jane, give my love to Susan and the folks at MFW! Hope you're keeping warm this winter!
