Impulse buying is not a good thing. It has caused many a marital and financial problem. That said, I wanted to show you my latest:
It's a pony! Yeah, no one knows why I bought a pony. It's not as if I have any use for him. But look how cute!
My daughter says I need professional help but she still loves me. My husband has assured me he won't leave me...unless I bring home ONE MORE HORSE!
So, how bout you guys. Any interesting impulse buys lately. No? Okay, I need advice. How do you talk yourself out of those crazy purchases??
Oh, and...anyone need a pony??

What a cutie! How could you possibly resist? Do you collect horses like some of us collect purses?:) That said, I actually only buy one purse per year. Most recent impulse buy? My husband and I bought the all-you-can-jet passes from Jet Blue which means we'll be taking several unexpected trips in September! (AFter I finish this book!!!)
Best way to keep from impulse purchases? Procrastinate.
Lois, you crack me up. I can honestly say I don't know anyone else who *might* come home with a pony impulse buy. He's adorable, though.
How to not impulse buy? Stay home. lol That's my tactic. I hate shopping.
And, Leanne, I'm so jealous. That sounds like so much fun!
Leanne, fantastic idea. I want to impulse fly.
Helen, I DID stay home. Found him on the internet when I was looking for a horse for a friend.
how adorable!
and *whimper* I wish I still had horses.
LOL, I knew the post had to be Lois's :) I can't say I have bought a pony. My impulse buys usually involve jewelry!
My impulse buys are books. I have huge TBR stacks, e books and hard copies. Staying out of the store helps, but then I also have to stay away from Amazon.
Helen, you do know someone else who's made some impulsive equine purchases. Back in our rural period, there was always room for one more.
And who could resist Lois's find? He's gorgeous. Now bring on the grandchildren!
Okay, I've pretty much kicked the habit, but a few years ago I started collecting old dolls, and I got hooked on vintage Barbies through E-Bay. I don't know if I was trying to buy back my childhood or what, but I finally had to go cold turkey. Recently I overheard my younger granddaughter boasting that to the collection is my will to her, which, she explained, means "I WILL get them after Nana dies. Which is okay because I'll never be too old to play with them. Because Nana plays with them, and she's pretty old. But not old enough to die."
She learned all she'll ever need to know in Kindergarten. She starts 1st grade after Labor Day. Icing on the cake.
My impulses tend to the candy bar in the checkout lane or a magazine. I think the hubby would freak if I came home and said, "look what I just bought...a horse!'
Usually my impulse buys involve shoes (I have, um, lots) but last week I finally succumbed and ordered the Kindle Generation 3 from Amazon. Hey, it's down to $139 and I couldn't resist any longer.
Of course, the Kindle now opens the way for more impulse purchases. I can download books!! Anytime! Anywhere!
My resident Golf Bum suggested I might want to establish a monthly e-book budget before things get too out of hand. He said that about the shoes, too, and look how well that worked.
Okay, for impulse buys we have:
Candy, jewelry, shoes, dolls, books, and stuff with which to enjoy books. Hmmm, it almost sounds like we're a female community here at Top Down.
Beautiful!!!
I'm jealous.
Gorgeous pony, Lois! I can see why you brought him home.
No impulse horses here but I have brought home a few impulse shelter dogs. What can I say? One look into those sweet, puppy-dog "I'll be the best friend you've ever had" eyes and I'm a goner.
