A Tango with Teeth

Yay!  It's release day for my latest novella, Vampire's Tango.  I'm holding a one-day contest (today) on Twitter to promote the book.  If you Twitter, follow me @michelehauf, and RT any of my promo posts for a chance to win a copy of HER VAMPIRE HUSBAND.

Now, let's talk inspiration.  I've had the idea for this story for over a year.  It all started with Gilles Marini and Cheryl Burke, when they danced that steamy, heart-stopping Argentine tango on Dancing With The Stars.  Gilles oozes sex appeal.  I can easily imagine him as a brooding, tormented vampire, searching for love in a smoky dark tango milonga.

I've always enjoyed tango music, and love to watch it performed by professionals.  But I remember a particularly interesting tango scene in the long-ago-cancelled Lone Gunmen series that nicely explains the meaning of tango.

In reality, I can't even do a decent hop-skip-jump without getting my feet tangled up, so I'll leave the tango for the professionals.  But I do love to watch it!

What about you?  Do you tango?  You love Dancing With The Stars?  Ever dreamed of tangoing with a handsome stranger? (Did he bite?)  :-)  On a different note, anyone remember The Lone Gunmen?

Michele-- whew! This video was amazing! And the music was perfect VAMPIRE tango music! I can see why it captured you so!

The Pool boy and I took tango lessons a few years ago-- it's such a cool dance. And so elegant. These guys did the Argentine tango, as opposed to the American tango. The American is much tamer. . . no sexy kicking. but I learned to love all things tango in the process. . . and a girl can always dream about a partner like Gilles.

Time for a shower. . .

Vampire's Tango! Love the concept, Michele. I think the tango is the sexiest dance. Wish I could do it, but I am so incredibly uncoordinated I can only dream about it. And I actually have! Not with a stranger who bites, though! LOL

Don't remember the Lone Gunman.

Oh, Betina, it would be so cool to dance a tango. Did it take long to learn? All those kicks seem a little, aggressive, but I guess that's the point of it.

Don't worry, Helen, somedream you'll be bitten. ;-)

Where do you get these obscure TV shows? I've never heard of the Lone Gunman - but that tango was pretty cool!!
And yes, I'm a dancing with the stars fan!!
Good luck with the new release, Michelle. it looks hot~~

Cindy! Are you an X Files fan? THe Lone Gunmen was a spinoff series from that show. The 3 crazy conspiracy theory guys that gave Mulder a hard time. It only lasted a year, but I loved that show.

Another obscure 1 season only show was Keen Eddie. Anyone remember that one with dimples-you-can-swim-in Mark Valley?

Congrats on the new book! I'll have to go put it in my shopping cart.

I've vowed not to add new books to the Kindle until I make it past 3/15 which is D-day for corporate Federal and state tax returns. But I DID NOT promise I wouldn't load up the shopping cart. (g)

I adore Dancing With the Stars. And Gilles was the perfect combination of incredibly sexy guy and family man. He makes us believe he's available and then we love him for not being available.

If that makes sense.

I love to Tango...but can't say that I have ever been "bitten" while doing it. But if it was Gilles Marini doing the biting.. My neck is all his...
Just love that he is back on "Brothers and Sisters"...

Michele - Mark Valley has a new show on Fox - HUMAN TARGET. 'Oh what fun it is to ride ...' along with THAT guy:o) Kind of a James Bond meets Alias meets NCIS. Lots of outrageous action and stunts and man, is he fun to look at :o)

Deb, Gilles available but not and us loving him for it. I love that! He is an awesome guy. Fingers crossed he shows up in the next Sex and The City movie!

Cindy, I did see the first ep of Human Target. I would watch anything with Valley in it. But I've missed it since. Must find!

Oh, man, that guy is perfect vamp material, Michele. Congrats on the new release.

Surfer Guy and I took Ballroom Dancing when in college. We learned to tango...though I think we never did it outside of class. That was a really fun course to take...but he's over a foot taller than me, so instead of "leading" he has a tendency to just pick me up and move me in the right direction.

Okay, guys, the thing is with the tango (most ballroom dances, but the tango especially) the guy has to really lead. He has to take charge and made the dance happen. He's in charge and it's interesting that so many guys have trouble doing that.

And (blush) many women have trouble letting go and being led. They say you can tell a lot about a relationship by watching people on a dance floor or in a dance class. You have to respect your partner and be willing to put yourself in his hands. . . which is sometimes hard for modern women to do.

Poor Pool Boy-- he had his hands full with me!

Wow, someone else who knows of the Lone Gunmen! I loved them on the main show, but was excited that they got their own -- and mad at Fox for canceling it. :( I was liking it even more than the X-Files (especially at that point since Mulder was abducted by the aliens and who knew when he was going to show up and all that). . . But I also simply identified with it more since I'm more techy like them versus alien conspiracy-ish like Mulder. Was in love with Mulder, but had a crush on Byers. :)

Lois, have you rewatched the show since it originally aired? I recall a few years ago, when I got the DVD set, my son and I sat down and watched the pilot episode. There's an 'are you serious?' scene in there featuring planes flying toward the twin towers that will make your jaw drop. The episode aired five months before 9/11.
Weird.

This is the hottest tango I've ever seen. Did you know he's on Brothers and Sisters and lets just say, I am smitten!
