A great Proposal!

Just a quick note to give you an opinion on The Proposal. Fun movie!

You may or may not like how quickly the whole thing develops and may or may not buy the fact that a NY editor always wears Christian Louboutin shoes (the red soles are a dead giveaway!) and carts around Louis Vuitton luggage. But, the dialogue is good-to-great and Ryan Reynolds is priceless as the deadpan editorial assistant cum fiancee. Not to mention the notorious Bullock nude scene and some lovely Reynolds beefcake.

You know, other than the nudie thing, this was practically PG! No love scenes, few kisses, not much sexy or suggestive stuff, overall. We took my 11 year old niece (with parental blessing) and the theater was packed with tweens!!! And it was perfectly suitable. More like the old screwball comedies of the 30's. . . minus some of the screwball. Oh, and if you're a BettyWhite lover-- she's wonderful! I want to BE her when I grow up.

Oh, and I saw the trailer for The Ugly Truth, staring Gerard Butler and Katherine Heigl. this looks GREAT. I didn't see the release date, I was too deep in my hazy GB dream-fog to pay attention. But I think it's soon. Sigh.

Yeah, baby. More to look forward to. Johnny Depp and Gerard Butler. I'm going to have to stock up on the heart meds!

Yes, I never miss a chance to see Sandra Bullock. Can't wait!

This weekend I watched Gran Torino (Clint Eastwood) and it was seriously great. And I'm not an Eastwood fan but geez does that guy make great films.

Also saw Defiance, a serious flick based on a true story about brothers/farmers who held out against the Germans and helped 1200 people survive until after the war.

Looking forward to watching movies movies movies all summer, LOL!

Johnny! Oh Johnny Depp -*big grin*

I'll check out that movie.... oh summer movie time, maybe it'll convince me to get out of the house and actually GO to the theater - I haven't been to a movie theater here in our little mountain town yet - in the near 5 years we've lived here!

Have been wondering about The Proposal. Thanks for the recommendation.

I went to see The Hangover yesterday. SO SO silly. and I could drive a truck through the plot holes. However, I laughed A LOT. I enjoyed my laughter as well as everyone else in the theater. I wasn't the only one who got tickled at the sophomoric humor.

I think The Proposal looks adorable. I'm not sure if I'll get to see it, but it looks like a good one. I went to see The Hangover last weekend and may talk my husband into seeing it. I can't remember the last time I saw a movie that was so good I told someone I'd see it again. Totally raunchy and inappropriate. I already told my mom NEVER to see it even if she's tempted. :) Arkansas Cyndi, I can't say I often see a movie for its plot. hehehe Maybe that's why they're filming the sequel already... so you can figure out how the chicken got there and tie up other loose ends. The studio gave the green light on the sequel before this one was released. Sign me up!

Thanks, guys for the input and opinions. I laughed my butt off at The Hangover. And yes it did have plot holes big enough to detonate a hydrogen bomb in. And speaking of that chicken-- hwere the heck did it come from? Tha was never explained! But the "tooth" thing made up for it in my opinion. That and Mike Tyson. And the car they ended up with at the end of the night. . .

'nuff said. The Proposal had some real feeling in it, which is what made it a cut above the usual fish-out-of-water story. Good acting.

Yes, summer is a great time for movies! And Kylie, Defiance was indeed a very good movie! In summer I'm usually in the mood for rom-coms and blow-em-upp blockbusters. But I can sure take a good "serious" movie now and then for balance.

Thanks, Betina. I'm so glad to hear The Proposal was a fun movie. But Sandra - nude? That's something I never thought would happen.
