Name and Win!

Lois Greiman

Okay, Christmas is almost here. I’ve not bought a single gift or put so much as one lonely candle on the mantle. And…I have a ton of work to do in short order. Not that that’s bad news. In this economy, it’s great just to be employed and even better to be doing something you love. So I’m thrilled to announce that Harper Collins has contracted me for two more historical romance novels.

The problem is the first book is due in four months and I don’t have a decent title. So I’m having a little contest. It’s called…Name That Book Before I Lose My Mind, Please.

Let me tell you a little about the series:

The Witches of Mayfair books are about a coven of government witches who live in Lavender House in London. It’s set in the Regency era and each book features one of the witchy women of a secret organization called Les Chausettes. The first book is called Under Your Spell, released May 2008. The second is titled Seduced By Your Spell, released Feb, 2009. And the third is known as…Book 3.

See the problem? I suggested calling this one Bound By Your Spell, but my editor thought that sounded too S&M. I told her I didn’t necessarily see a problem with that J but she was neither amused not inspired, so I’m back to the drawing board.

I’ll summarize a bit. Story three is about the youngest of the Chausettes, a little pixie-like creature called Faery Fay who’s had a traumatic past. Because of that, she’s frightened of men, but now, after three years at Lavender House, she’s determined to prove herself by taking on a mission involving dying nobility. Enter a wounded Highland warrior who is terribly out of place in posh Regency society and who seems to be the culprit and voila! you have yourself a bona fide plot. Okay, maybe you only have a premise. But that’s what I’m working with--a fragile, little witch with growing powers and a burly Scotsmen who has a few secrets of his own.

So…what’s the title? I can’t decide, but I think the word ‘spell’ should be in there somewhere. Here are a few ideas:

1. Saved By Your Spell
2. Bewitched By Your Spell
3. Spellbound
4. My Lady’s Spell

I’m giving away a copy of Under Your Spell and an ARC of Seduced By Your Spell to one commenter who is kind enough to vote…or…even better…who comes up with a new title. So please, let your imaginations roam.

And happy holidays everyone!!

I love "Bewitched by your Spell."

Other possibilities: Charmed by your Spell, Captivated by your Spell or Enchanting Spell.

Healing Spell?

Should it have "your spell" somewhere in the title since the other two do? Or not?

Redeemed by your spell
Lovers healed by your spell
Love found by your spell
Spellbound Lovers
Heal the spellbound lovers
Walkies for the spellbound lovers

Sorry, slinking away ...

My vote is for Bewitched By Your Spell. It fits the premise you've given and has that same 'your spell'

Another one: Trapped By Your Spell

I like Spellbound myself, Lois. Do you know how lucky you are to be able to name your own books??? Out of 25 for Silhouette I'll bet fewer than six bear the title of my first choice. Sometimes not even my third or thirteenth choice!

Hey Lois. Lots of creatives people here. Lots of good title suggestions. You might have a bigger problem now - Too MANY good titles to chose from.

And keep those creative minds active, people, I might have to enlist your aid for title help soon too :o)

My vote: It's a tough one but Captured by your Spell

LOL. Vicki, Walkies For Your Spell. You definitely get the most unique award.

How about...
Spell It Right, Dummy!

Oh. Er, my bad. Must have been thinking of the menfolk in my house. I'll go now.

I like Saved By Your Spell if you want to be literal... Bewitched By Your Spell sounds more intriguing and interesting though. I really have no idea about this stuff, but how about:

Released By Your/A Spell
Reborn By Your/A Spell
A Second Chance Spell

I was thinking that these titles could refer to both of the characters depending on which word you use.

Bamabelle, I love Captured By Your Spell. Didn't think of that one. Thanks.

Hey Lois! what a lovely problem to have! 3rd book in a trilogy with such fabulous covers and great titles. Any one you pick will be a winner! (I'm voting for Captured By Your Spell.) It ptobably ought to be something like the other titles, but to shake it up( and let the readers know they haven't already read this one, how about something like Unlikely Spell, or Accidental Magic.

(I like anything "Accidental", which denotes the unexpected and probably unfortunate. But we all know that in romance, many accidents turn out "happy." So, I'd pick it up!)

thanks for the great December kick-off! And good luck with the title. Several here are winners!

I like Bewitched By Your Spell. Here are some suggestions.

Entrapped by Your Spell
Entangled by Your Spell
Beguiled by Your Spell
Bound by Your Spell
Compelled by Your Spell
Enslaved by Your Spell
Redeemed by Your Spell
Enchanted by Your Spell
Infatuated by Your Spell

Captured By Your Spell is my favorite of the titles mentioned. A close second is Bewitched By Your Spell.
One I haven't seen mentioned yet is Tempted By Your Spell.

Of the titles you listed, I like "Spellbound" the best, though think perhaps "Saved by Your Spell" fits the theme of the first two books best.

I haven't read all of the other posted suggestions, but have a couple of my own:
- Ensnared by Your Spell
- Healed by Your Spell

Also, I agree that Bamabelle's suggestion, Captured by Your Spell, is excellent. I like that much better than any of my own.

Kylie, it's yet to be seen if they'll keep my title or not. Neither of the first two were mine. But all of my mysteries were my titles until they decided to shake things up with One Hot Mess.

It's a strange business, isn't it?

How about Freed By Your Spell?

Spellbound is my favorite of the ones you listed.

Betina, I love the title Accidental Magic. Adorable

Has BESPELLED been mentioned yet?

Unknown said...

You guys are really great at this. It's so nice to get some fresh ideas.

I love the word 'beguiled', Amy S.

And no, Bespelled, hasn't been mentioned. Thanks M.

I will have to say I love Bewitched By Your Spell,I think it is the perfect title. Most of everything that I can come up with has all been mentioned.

I like "Enchanted By Your Spell."

You have a whole "...your spell" thing going in your titles.

I love the wounded/fragile little fairy. That instantly got me.

Unknown said...

Thanks, Deb.

Virginia, you don't think Bewitched By Your Spell seems redundant? Cuz I really like that one too.

Unknown said...

Another thought:

Safe In Your Spell

Unknown said...

I like "Bewitched by your Spell" but here are a couple ideas... (not sure if anyone has these yet or not)

-I Put A Spell On You
- Enchanted by your Spell

Lori said...

I agree, I love "Bewitched by your Spell."

And how is it that I haven't read the first two before now? Yikes? I lurrrve me some historicals... running to the TBR list now...

Unknown said...

Lori, read me! Read me!

ArkieRN said...

I like the aforementioned "Captured By Your Spell" best.

Unknown said...

Arkie, love that baby pic!

Cindy Gerard said...

Lois, I'm not Virginia but you asked: "Virginia, you don't think Bewitched By Your Spell seems redundant?"

IMO Bewitched by your Spell is not redundant.

"Bespelled and bewitched and bedazzled by your bewitching bedazzling spell" ... would be.:o)

What about something like "Secrets of Your Spell" - I'm really bad at stuff like this and most of the words have been posted.

Christie Ridgway said...

I instantly thought of Saved by Your Spell before I saw your list of choices, Lois. But then there's this:

For Your Spell Only

If you want to get out of the original rhythm.

Congrats on the new books!

Just a test. Great cover.

Hi Lois! My favorites are Bewitched By Your Spell and Captured By Your Spell.

If you want to do something other than the "spell" theme, how about

Highland Magic?

Cheryl said...

Of the ones you mentioned, my favorite is Bewitched by your Spell. My contributions to the great suggestions already posted would be Mesmerized by your Spell or maybe Mesmerized by her Spell.

Unknown said...

Hi Danielle. And thanks. I love the covers too.

Stacy S said...

My favorite one is My Lady's Spell, second choice would be Bewitched By Your Spell.

Unknown said...

Hi Lois!!!

My suggestion is Seized By Your Spell :)

Unknown said...

Hey, I like to be Seized. I mean...I like Seized By Your Spell. Thanks, Michele.

You guys are doing really great. I'm so impressed.

Unknown said...

Thanks everyone for voting and for giving me such great ideas.

Bewitched By Your Spell was the winner. But Captured By Your Spell was a close second and that wasn't one I had thought of.

You guys are great!
