Whose Mug is that Anyway?

It's been a pretty tough couple of weeks around here, so I needed some entertainment today. I know, I know. You're thinking, if this is all it takes to trip Helen's trigger then she needs to get out more. Well, there you go.

See if you can guess to whom these chins belong. And I'm not even going to give you names 'cause that'll make it far too easy. Don't scroll down too far until you're ready to see who's who, or you'll ruin it. I've got the entire face of the guys on the next post, so you can see how many you guessed correctly.

So while you're ruminating over these beautiful mouths, chins, dimples and stubbled cheeks, think about how quickly we make assumptions about people based on appearance. Rumpled clothing, cleanly pressed white dress shirt, piercings, stained fingernails, too much makeup, too tan, crooked teeth, heavy, skinny, yada, yada, yada.

As a writer, I've used scars, length of hair, jewelry, tatoos and lots of other physical traits to convey character because we all do it. We all make immediate conclusions as to personality based on appearance. And rightly so. Generally speaking our appearance says a lot about us.

But while we can change our hair coloring, our clothing, our weight, there are some aspects of our appearance we can not change, things we're born with like height, bone structure, skin color. And some of those things very definitely affect how we see people.

Take dimples and cleft chins for example.

Man, oh man. I see a dimple on a guy and I melt. Dimples to me say considerate, sensitive, upbeat, quick to laugh and sweet sexy. This is the guy you want to take home to momma. Except for one. The third pic above. He's not a mother kind of character. Hint. Hint.

Cleft chins, on the other hand, get me hot. To me they think strong, mature, capable, and hot sexy. These are the guys who take control and are good at it. They're the cops with big guns. The fireman with ... but I digress.

Then you have this amazing freak of nature with this actor who has both dimples and a cleft chin. I can't even think about what that says, at least not if you want me to finish this post!

So what does it for you, dimples or cleft chins? Neither?

BTW, my October Superromance, Finding Mr. Right, is on the shelves only for a few more days. Haven't found Mr. Right, or just want to have some fun? Check this out this quiz on iVillage: http://quiz.ivillage.com/love/tests/mrright.htm

Hey Helen. Sorry to hear you've had a bum couple of weeks. Sending many hugs your way!!
Love your chins. How did you do that??? And love these guys. I look for the mouth. And the eyes. I'm a sucker for both.

I only guessed one -- Mario Lopez.

You wrote "..we're born with like height, bone structure, skin color." I read an article not long ago about a black newscaster who has vitiligo, the disease that turns the skin white. He hid the disease with makeup for years but as it progressed, it became more difficult. He told his boss and expected to be fired. Instead, his boss urged him to tell his story and educate the public about the disease. He's had to deal with public reaction, including worry that it's contagious. I'd be willing to bet people make snap judgements about him based on this.

I'd recognize Viggo and Josh anywhere! But you threw me on the bottom pic, with that fab face. I love Jason Lewis, but sure don't see enough of him on the big screen

Fun quiz!

Helen, I LOVE quizzes like this! I got most of the others, but Jason Lewis was a complete miss for me. What does he do or star in that I've missed?

Cindy - Photoshop. Pull up the pic and crop it. As I said, needed the entertainment. Tells you how exciting my life is!

Marilyn, that skin disease sounds awful. Isn't that what Michael Jackson said he had?

Michele, I'd like to think I'd know Josh and Viggo anywhere too. Someone else will just have to quiz me sometime!

Betina, Jason Lewis has been in a bunch of smaller parts that I can't think of off the top of my head. He's gorgeous, isn't he? Michele's right. Would like to see more of him.

Anyone scroll down to see the pick to Tom Brady? Ooolala!

I got 3 but it's still very interesting even on the ones I got, that I connected with them sooo much more in the full face.

Sort of tells me I'm an eyes girl.

Sorry about the tough couple of weeks but, selfishly I'm very happy that your day-to-day triggered a feast of yummy!

I got Tom Brady and Mario Lopez. What can I say, I'm a Pats and Dancing fan. :O)

Sorry about the rough time, but thanks for the yummies!

Yep, Deb. I'm an eyes person first, mouth second.

Keri, that's cool that you got Tom Brady. I wasn't sure anyone would. That's a sexy mouth.

I didn't get Tom Brady! Maybe it's a west coast thing. However, my eyes were glued to him because of the juxtoposition of naked neck/collarbone and then a sleeve. V. hot.

I love Viggo. I LOOOOOVE Jason Lewis. Really, he is so darned beautiful.

This is a great exercise, Helen. It's fun just to focus on the lower half of the face and see each famous man in a different way.

Helen I knew it was Tome without even having to think about it!

By looking at the lower half of Jason Lewis, I thought that was the guy that played the love interest in Miss Congeniality (sp?).

Glad you thought it was fun, too, Christie. I don't know if it's the writer in me, or what, but I could get lost in some of these pics.

Keri - that's Benjamin Bratt. Love that guy in a goatee!

Did you guys know you can have plastic surgery to CREATE dimples!

Michele Hauf said...

Jason Lewis is from Sex and The City. He was Samantha's younger lover and stuck through cancer with her. I loved him in that role!

All right, this is sort of sad.

I got them all. Clearly, I'm looking at too many pictures.

All else being equal, I'm a dimple girl. But all else is never equal. Mostly, I'm a personality girl.

YES, Michele. I'd forgotten that 'cause his hair was so much longer. yeah, love him too.

Susie - Cool, you got 'em all. Next time, I'll make it tougher.

Wow. What a way to spice up a Monday.

Hope your next two weeks will be better than the last two.

I only got one, BTW.

Helen Brenna said...

Fiona, you must be an eye lady too!

I guess my post didn't work yesterday but really all I said was that I couldn't guess any of them lol. Yeah, eyes are easier.

I'll have to think on eyes next catslady!
