Monday Morning Quickies

Start your day out right with Richard Simmons on the show Whose Line Is It? Very Funny!

And how 'bout those Giants!! Love those kind of upsets. Did you watch the Superbowl? Have a favorite commercial?

Bridgestone squirrels? Bud Light guys in the kitchen? The Tide stained shirt? You can watch them all here: http://sports.aol.com/nfl/superbowlads

I had tears streaming down my face the first time I watched it.

Helen, I enjoyed every last minute of the superbowl!!!

I love Payton Manning and was cheering for him and the Colts. When they were knocked out and my Packers were gone, I transferred loyalties to Eli and the crew. I was on the edge of my seat last night! Wow! What a game! And the biggest yawn of a halftime show in Superbowl history! I mean, I like Tom Petty, but jeesh. . . play something with a pulse, why don't you? And where was the skin? Where were the dancers and the pumping beat? Where was the spectacle gone wrong?

Fortunately there were a couple of ads to keep me awake. LOVED the squirrels. . . that morphed into --yes, Richard Simmons! And I was crazy about the lizards doing Thriller! Got to see that one again!

And how cush-league was it of the Pat's coach to walk off the field before the game was even finished!!! Belly-check ought to be ashamed of himself, leaving his team out there to finish such a stellar season without their coach. Where was his loyalty to his players?

Anyway, I'm happy for the Mannings and for the world of football. It was a powerful game and a fascinating upset of expectations. Which is always cool with me.

Okay, I was for the Pats just because of the perfect season thing, plus the MA nostalgia--when I was growing up, they were the Boston Patriots--but I kinda think the karma went bad for the Pats over that spying thing, whatever that was about. See, I'm not a football fan. I watched part of halftime and the last minute of the game. Looked like the Pats coach walked off the field before the end of the game(?) I don't like poor sportsmanship.

Now to watch the ads I miss--thanks for the link, Helen! If I watched the SB, it would be for the ads, but since we can see them on the 'net...

Helen, the Whose Line? is hysterical, but after I watched the Richards Simmons bit, I took the link from that page to Robin Williams on Whose Line, which was even better! Why haven't I been watching that show? Thanks for the link!

As for the commercials, there were only a few good ones. Hands-down favorite: Budweiser Rocky. Big surprise--love dogs and horses, especially Clydes. I even downloaded it. Honorable mentions: Bud light wine and cheese, squirrel, talking stain, pigeons.

Why are British ads so much better than ours?

I thought the commercials weren't as good as years before, but loved the Rocky, the Tide stain, and the Richard Simmons one.

I wasn't rooting much for either team. The Patriots because of the cheating thing and their coach seems like a jerk. Also, don't like Eli because he turned his nose up at being a San Diego Charger (my team). However, did watch the whole game and agree that Tom Petty was a big yawn.

Oh my goodness! I was screaming with laughter here. I used to watch Whose Line all the time. Is it even still on during primetime or is it in reruns on cable somewhere?

I don't follow football and didn't even know who was playing til the DH turned on the game about halfway through the first quarter.

I loved the Rocky/Budweiser commercial and the Fed Ex/pigeons one. Props to the lizards doing thriller. Reminded me of the YouTube video of the Phillippine prisoners dancing to Thriller.

We found ourselves cheering for the Giants since they were the underdogs. And what an exciting win and crappy behavior by the Patriots' coach. Didn't his mama teach him how to be a good sport? My mama woulda slapped him good for that.

And yawn on that halftime show. No wardrobe malfunctions. No guitar silhouette looking like a giant phallic symbol. No fun at all. My husband didn't even know who the band was.

Ijust realizedthat the SB ads page divides them by quarters. I only looked at 1st quarter. I'm on the laptop and for some reason can't get the ads to open. I'll have to look at thelizard one later.

Completely different subject--I've decided to do something I've never done before. Tomorrow night I'm going to my precinct caucus. I want to see for myself how the process works. I'm one of those still-not-quite-decided people, and I lean one way one day, another the next. Tired of talking heads--interesting in hearing what my neightbors have to say. Should be an interesting experience--the kind a writer likes to try on first hand thinking it might be handy someday.
